Item Human Rights Education: A Study with Special reference to Professionals Working in the field of Engineering and Technology(Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, 2021) Sharma, Vinit KumarAbstract Human rights education (HRE) is universally accepted mechanism to ensure protection and promotion of human rights. Progress in the field of science and technology has made many miracles in human life and simultaneously created new social issues with new dimensions of human rights violations. Globalisation added with technology led to the growth of new actors in the world politics and development. Technocrats being the main workforce behind all these developments cannot be devoid of HRE under the illusionary excuse of productivity and efficiency. Pattern of human rights violations has been observed throughout the world under the influence of globalisation. Under such circumstances, State cannot be the sole responsibility bearer for HRE. This research undertakes the critical analysis of impact of technology over human rights. As per the plan of the study, researcher explores the basic concept of human rights, HRE, human rights issues and challenges in the field of engineering and technology, and HRE in the field of engineering and technology. The works highlights the absence of HRE for engineers, academicians and working professionals in academic institutions as well as during employment through empirical research. The empirical part of the research is primarily focused to explore the status of HRE in India, especially the status of HRE in the field of engineering and technology. In addition to this the researcher has also attempted to find out the relationship between status of HRE in engineering and technology and its impact on professionals/ workers working in these fields. In the end suggestions are made to improve human rights education among professionals working in the field of engineering and technology.
